The very first TwitchCon Europe took place at the CityCube Convention Center in Berlin, Germany, on the weekend of 13-14 April, 2019. TwitchCon, the annual convention for the live streaming video platform Twitch (which has been owned by Amazon since 2014), has taken place in the U.S. since 2015 and this is the first time the event has headed overseas. Thousands of streamers gathered together to celebrate all things Twitch for a weekend of games, live esports, sessions and workshops, meet and greets and more.

The event also included an expo that was attended by many of the biggest brands in the space. Exhibitors at events like TwitchCon have a unique opportunity to engage directly with a passionate and highly enthusiastic community of streamers, gamers and fans, and premier sponsors at the show included Gillette, Intel and of course Twitch themselves.

Over the past few years Identity has delivered many exciting projects in the esports and gaming arena, and at TwitchCon Europe we worked closely with our client HyperX to develop and implement their custom-built stand at the show.

HyperX

Established in 2002, HyperX is a high-performance supplier of headsets, keyboards, memory, mice and more, designed to meet the most rigorous demands of professional gamers to give them the winning edge. In addition, HyperX is the proud sponsor of over 20 gaming teams globally and many esports events worldwide.

The HyperX booth at TwitchCon Europe was fully designed, managed, built and installed by Identity, and occupied 54 sqm of floor space over two floors. The double-deck structure was unique to the show and included a number of attractive features, including custom-built PC and PlayStation 4 gaming pods, striking graphics, retail area and a private meeting space that was located upstairs.

The stand also incorporated a sound booth built directly into the heart of the structure which functioned as a sound proof acoustic pod for HyperX to demo their exciting QuadCast mic.

Overall, the HyperX stand was extremely popular across both days of TwitchCon Europe with great attendance from fans and we look forward to working with them at other exciting events later this year.

A vast amount of time is involved in planning, developing and finalising the designs for exhibition spaces at events like TwitchCon, and here are our thoughts on the best of the rest from the show this year.

Sea Of Thieves

Developed by Rare and published by Microsoft Studios, Sea Of Thieves is a first-person action-adventure game where players take the role of pirates, battling it out across a fantasy world. Without question this stand was one of highlights of the show, featuring a gorgeous large screen, character props, temporary tattoo parlour, game demo area and more.

Gillette

In the last few years Gillette has taken an enormous involvement in esports, forming partnerships with the likes of ESL and sponsoring major events such as the Intel® Extreme Masters World Championship at Katowice, the Brazilian professional League Of Legends championship and of course TwitchCon itself.

At the show Gillette unveiled two streaming stations for their Gillette Gaming Alliance members alongside a shave station, where visitors could receive free grooming (and advice) right there at the stand, with customised razor blades then handed out as gifts.

Twitch Prime

As you would expect Twitch had a sizeable presence at the show, with 3 spaces in total, including a booth for Twitch Sings, their new free-to-play karaoke game that premiered at TwitchCon Europe. The Twitch Prime stand made very effective use of the brand’s crown as a hanging prop that provided excellent wayfinding, with the cardboard crowns available as swag for fans proving very popular at the show.

Caseking

Headquartered in Berlin, since its foundation in 2003 Caseking has developed into one of Europe’s most successful online providers of tech products. The use of Noblechairs around the stand proved highly popular as a super-comfortable seating choice for both visitors and Caseking’s team.

Beyerdynamic

Beyerdynamic is a German audio equipment manufacturer, specialising in the production of mics, headphones, wireless audio and conference systems. Their tall stand at TwitchCon had a strong arena feel, with the elevated truss allowing for a superb lighting arrangement and great screen visibility.

Space Ape Games

Founded in 2012 and based in London, Space Ape Games‘ mission is to make the highest quality mobile games and at TwitchCon they demoed their new Rumble League title, which strives to bring true competitive gaming to mobile. Tournaments were organised every two hours and the booth was consistently popular across the weekend.

World Of Tanks

World Of Tanks is a highly popular multiplayer online game developed by Belarusian company Wargaming. At TwitchCon Europe they brought a fantastic tank prop to the show which served as a brilliant attractor and photo opportunity for fans.

Overall, TwitchCon Europe 2019 was a fantastic event and at Identity we are incredibly excited to get started on other projects in the world of streaming, gaming and esports in 2019 and beyond.
