Last month Patricia Billings, Identity’s Sustainability and Social Value Manager, attended the Sustainable Events Show with other advocates of sustainability and social values from the Identity team, including Charlie Hepburn, Beth Lightowler, Millie Ashcroft and Christina Marsom. The event took place at the Barbican Conservatory in London which has been awarded the most sustainable venue in London in both 2019 and 2021.

The Sustainable Events Show is an exhibition that delivers enlightenment, education and discovery of 80 environmentally-friendly event venues, event services suppliers, and event technology companies that practice sustainability.

It was great for the team to hear about the different ways in which events can be more sustainable, particularly around waste management and the monitoring and measuring of our Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions. There were many social enterprises that were able to share their story on how they can help reduce the environmental impact of an event whilst increasing social value.

“The panels were very inspiring, and the team are excited to bring these ideas back to Identity so we can continue our sustainable journey within the events industry.” – Patricia Billings, Sustainability and Social Value Manager.

For the first time in-person, the team were able to meet with our sustainability consultants KLH who we have been working very closely with over the past 12 months to help us achieve our sustainability commitments.

Identity has a dedicated team working on creating a more sustainable future for the events we are delivering, including a Carbon Reduction Plan and a clear set of deliverables.
